Inside the Arthouse: Mouse

Some friendships shape who we become. Others change the course of our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

Now nominated for Best Feature at the 2026 Gotham Awards, MOUSE is the deeply personal new film from Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson, the acclaimed filmmakers behind GHOSTLIGHT.

Set in 2002, the film brings the complicated world of adolescence vividly to life—with all its humor, uncertainty, and the intensity of friendships that can feel like everything.

Featuring a terrific ensemble led by Katherine Mallen Kupferer and Academy Award nominee Sophie Okonedo, MOUSE is filled with warmth, emotional honesty, and wonderfully observed moments that capture the complicated business of growing up.

Drawing on experiences from O’Sullivan’s own adolescence, the film was brought to life through a remarkably collaborative filmmaking process.

Join us as we welcome Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson for a conversation about MOUSE, the experiences that inspired it, and how they find humor, tenderness, and humanity even in life’s most difficult moments.
